In the loving spirit of play that we enjoy when we read for one another or do our card of the month writing, we are excited to announce our new podcast series for which we will explore our relationship to the Tarot.

While we have chosen topics to discuss in our first podcasts, we'd love to take up any particular questions you have for future podcasts.

Overview

We are two writers who have been throwing the cards for each other for over twenty years. Because we now live in separate regions of the country – Mary in Iowa and Tania in California – we do tarot long distance (see our introductions for details about how we do that). Our tarot for two play has evolved considerably over time. We used to pick one card each at the end of our monthly phone tarot sessions and keep that card close by during the coming month, then the next time we met we each wrote about what the card had to do with the month we just went through. We’re sharing the results of that practice here in the hopes that what the cards have said to us about specific events and moments in our lives will help you use the cards to illuminate your own daily life and maybe even inspire you to create your own tarot for two practice with a friend.

These days we share cards daily and play with them in a different way. We are using a six-card layout (selecting one card from the Major Arcana, Minor Arcana, and Face cards from two different decks). We use the Marco Polo app to record and exchange our interpretations of the six cards every day, considering where we are spiritually and practically that day. This simple practice has opened up new vistas, allowing the tarot to talk to us in new and magical ways.
